Dear Colleagues,

As the President of the College of Anaesthesiologists and Intensivists of Sri Lanka, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 38^th Annual Academic Congress of the College which will be held on 22^nd and 23^rd of January, 2022.

Due to the persistent onslaught of COVID- 19 and ever-changing health restrictions, 2022 Academic Congress would be held on a virtual platform missing the opportunity to meet many academics in person. Nevertheless, there was a silver lining in this state of affairs. Many world-renowned speakers agreed to join us virtually sharing their knowledge and experiences making it a very impressive programme. It is also enriched by pre and post-congress workshops, with selective sessions conducted with in-person participation.

The annual academic congress is the key academic event of the college calendar. I invite all clinicians engaged in the fields of anaesthesia, perioperative medicine, critical care medicine pain medicine, and emergency medicine to join us and enjoy the benefits of this academic feast from the most comfortable environment of yours.

I sincerely hope you will enjoy these two dates of sharing knowledge and thank all the resource personnel and the organizingng committee for the effort, commitment, and dedication towards the successful completion of this programme.
